because i have a rinse..and im trying to go with a new look..and i know that i cant possibly continue to get a rinse with highlites cause then i will b colorin over the highlites defeating the purpose?

You may not have your terms straight. A rinse is not a permanent color, but something that rinses out completely when you wet your hair. Haircolor is haircolor and is permanent or semipermanent.
I have my hair colored and hilited at same time. The colorist alternates sections - color/hiite/color/hilite. I have the roots redone with color every 6 weeks and it is not pulled thru the ends or yes it would cover the hilites. The hilites are redone every 3 months.
Naturally, unless you know how to get the color on roots only, you will need someone to do it for you.

if your saying you want to die your hair and cover your highlights, then it would be fine but you better get a darker color then your highlights. Because if you dont, you will be able to see your highlights threw your new color.

If your hair is highlighted and colored in between the foils. you should be ok. Depending on the peroxide level they use and if they always pick up the same pieces of hair that was foiled previous so you dont get damage
